A Jesmonite Lamp Workshop at my studio is a fantastic hands-on experience where participants create their own unique, handcrafted lamps using Jesmonite, a versatile and eco-friendly casting material.
Workshop Overview (2 Days)
Day 1: Moulding & Casting
- Introduction to Jesmonite: Learn about its properties and why it’s great for home decor.
- Design & Colour Mixing: Experiment with pigments, marbling, terrazzo, or layering effects.
- Casting: Pour the Jesmonite into moulds to create the lamp bases.
- Drying & De-moulding: Leave overnight to cure.
Day 2: Finishing & Wiring
- Sanding & Sealing: Smooth out surfaces and apply sealant for a polished finish.
- Wiring the Lamp: Choose from a selection of colourful fabric cables to match the design.
- Assembly: Fit the bulb holder, plug, and switch safely.
- Final Touches: Add bulbs and admire the unique creations!
